A Few Watercolor Paintings

I decided to try out watercolor painting....sold one already (the Cherry Pie) to a fb friend from my hometown. Still working on skills and finding the right products and how to stretch paper properly!

Each one of these is done on a 6x9"piece of Arches 140 lb paper. These were all 2nd tries. I'm pretty happy with them so far.

Gay Pride Cake painting

I did this original 12" x 12" x 1" painting in reaction to the shooting at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando. It will be going on ebay for auction and part of it goes to charity in support of the LGBT community. I kept the theme of this a happy one even tho I did it with the victims in mind.

The sides have the words "Love is Love" and "GAY PRIDE" on them.
(I think I may include words more often on my paintings in the future).

Jelly Donut Bite and Cream Donut Bite paintings

I did these in the last 2 days. I've been trying to improve my self-discipline. Finishing these in a short time made me feel great. I was experimenting and practicing with style, color combos, and values. The cream one is from my reference photo, and the jelly is out of my imagination. Each acrylic painting is on a 6" x 8" canvas panel. Happiness is always donuts!!!

Birthday Cake Still Life Painting

I made this cake for my boyfriend's birthday (50) and within 24 hours it became a model for a still life painting!

It's acrylic paint on a 12" square stretched canvas. Done in one afternoon! I like doing quick paintings--leaves less time for mulling it over, artist block, and negative thinking to creep in. Just set it up and DO it! That's what works for me lately.

Donuts

Here's my latest painting, Donuts, just finished today. I'm very happy with it. It took 4 hours of painting time, and a whole week of artist's block! :) Here's the evolution of the painting. It's based on a photo I took (last photo). And it's 12" square. Kind of small for me, but I think I like this size!

Peanut donut

Cinnamon bun and cream filled

Chocolate frosting

Darken darks and work on cinnamon bun

White cream, hilites on chocolate, and glaze on bun

Add a few crumbs, and sign!

And here is the reference photo I used. It was dull, so I "ortonized" it to bring out more vivid coloring.

Photo I created and used to do this painting.

Got "featured"

My "Cupcakes with Rainbow Sprinkles" got "featured" in the Acrylic Painting group on Red Bubble--an artist website. I just joined recently and was surprised and happy that it got noticed. :)

I am ordering some greeting cards made from some of my paintings or photography to see how they print out. Usually things end up darker than they appear online. If so, I'm going to have to adjust the brightness from now on on the photos of the art & photography I upload.

There's another artist website I belong to, and I just wish I could tell it somehow to sift out all the "manga" or whatever that is. I'm sick of looking at it! I know, I'm just too old and don't get it or like it, lol.

Yellow Cupcakes with Rainbow Sprinkles

I guess it's kind of self-explanatory. Another bigger-than-life-size dessert painting. Acrylic on 18 x 24" stretched canvas. Makes me hungry...but I'm counting calories!

Chocolate Cake!!!

Acrylic on stretched canvas. 18x24". First time I'm painting "white" with color in the shading and highlighting rather than just brown. Probably could've done it with more intensity, but I'm just getting started. Next, I have to finish my pair of yellow cupcakes!
