Owl Christmas Ornaments

I like owls and found some cheap wooden owl shapes at Michael's--bought all of them, actually from 2 locations. So I designed these holiday owls, both front and back, and glued them together with gold ribbon to make ornaments.

And I'm getting old because I had to wear my reading glasses to do them...and to see them! But once on the tree, they show up nicely.

Ten Cardinals in Birch Trees

Newest painting on 18x24" canvas. This is the first time I have tried painting birds and it was kind of fun. They are nice and small and I can only see them clearly with my glasses on. And as usual, I see when I crop my painting to give a close up view, it looks like another painting composition I could have or even should have used, lol.

Got "featured"

My "Cupcakes with Rainbow Sprinkles" got "featured" in the Acrylic Painting group on Red Bubble--an artist website. I just joined recently and was surprised and happy that it got noticed. :)

I am ordering some greeting cards made from some of my paintings or photography to see how they print out. Usually things end up darker than they appear online. If so, I'm going to have to adjust the brightness from now on on the photos of the art & photography I upload.

There's another artist website I belong to, and I just wish I could tell it somehow to sift out all the "manga" or whatever that is. I'm sick of looking at it! I know, I'm just too old and don't get it or like it, lol.

Yellow Cupcakes with Rainbow Sprinkles

I guess it's kind of self-explanatory. Another bigger-than-life-size dessert painting. Acrylic on 18 x 24" stretched canvas. Makes me hungry...but I'm counting calories!

Chocolate Cake!!!

Acrylic on stretched canvas. 18x24". First time I'm painting "white" with color in the shading and highlighting rather than just brown. Probably could've done it with more intensity, but I'm just getting started. Next, I have to finish my pair of yellow cupcakes!

Birch Tree Paintings

It's amazing how fast I can do a painting when I'm free of self-criticism. I did each of these in one day and I'm very happy with them. I will do more and want to add little animals like squirrels rabbits chipmunks and groundhogs or birds to them someday to give them more character and life. They're 18x24".

Comic Relief from the Debate Last Night

Found these pictures online and added my own words to them for the fun of it.

I love the Count---he's my favorite puppet!

"On The Road" Sign Paintings

Set of 3 travel signs based on photos of desert & Rt 66 signs. Each is 10" square on stretched canvas with the sides painted black. Took me forever to finish these due to procrastination...:)

Can't wait to start on something new. I have 3 blank 18 x 24" canvases staring at me in the living room waiting for me to decide what to paint on them. Trees, Dolphins, Pottery, Beach....too many choices. I like doing big triptychs that you can hang over the sofa.

Trailer In The Desert Painting

Finished this little triptych yesterday. It's funny how I hate everything I do....but after seeing it as the sun went down yesterday in various lighting, I decided I do like it. It's original--out of my imagination with no reference pictures, acrylic paint on 3 @ 4" x 12" deep stretched canvases with sides painted black. I might hang it in the bathroom.

A Song/Poem

Just Sell Everything
C2012

I wanna move out west
And live in a trailer
On desert sand.

Just sell everything
And start all over
Just sell everything
Wanna start all over again.

I wanna wear sundresses
With cowboy boots
For the rest of my days.

Just sell everything
And start all over
Just sell everything
Gonna start all over again.

I wanna drive a
Muscle car and leave
The dust behind me.

Just sell everything
And start all over
Just sell everything
Startin' all over again.

Art Guitars Finished

Finished the guitar paintings with the help of a new silver paint pen to do the frets and outlining.

Close-ups

As usual, I thought of a better idea when it was too late--I could have done each one monochromatically, so they would be easier to look at, and I could make sure I had 4 light/dark values in each one. Oh well, next time. :)

Guitar Practice CD

Today I tried to play Hungerstrike on my guitar while listening to the real thing on MP3 player thru headphones. I recently "just noticeably improved" on this song and wanted to see if I could keep up. I kind of can...so I decided  to burn a CD so I can play along with this and other songs I've been working on. Yay! Each one is on three times in a row to make it easier to just keep practicing. List of songs:

Hungerstrike = Temple of the Dog
Hysteria = Def Leppard
One = Creed
Get Out Alive = Three Days Grace
I Hate Everything About You = Three Days Grace
Animal I Have Become = Three Days Grace
Bound For the Floor = Local H

New Art Project

Inspiration hit recently to try painting again. I'm working on a set of 4 paintings of guitars, done with mixed media. Total size will be 30" X 40". Pictures coming soon :)
